SRINAGAR: Police have recovered the body of a youth, who was abducted by armed gunmen from his residence at
Hajin area of north Kashmir's
Bandipora district on Monday.
Armed terrorists had barged into the house of Farooq Ahmad Parrey on Monday and abducted his son-in-law Muntazir Ahmad. They had attacked three others, including two women, causing serious injuries to them.
On Tuesday, police recovered Muntazir’s body from Hajin’s outskirts. Sources said Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind the killing.
“Four LeT terrorists barged into Farooq Parrey’s house around 10.00pm and fired on the residents. Three members – Farooq’s wife, daughter and brother – were injured. The terrorists also abducted Muntazir Ahmad, whose body was later found,” said a police source, adding that in 2017, terrorists had abducted Farooq’s son, Muzzafar Ahmad Parrey. Muzaffar’s decapitated body was later recovered from a river.
Normal life has been paralysed in Kashmir since the killing of 20 people, including three Army jawans, four civilians and 13 terrorists, on Sunday. Commercial establishments, education institutes and offices were shut for the second consecutive day, while public transport remained off the roads. Internet services are still suspended. In Kangan, there were massive clashes between civilians and security forces after a youth, who was a part of a stone-pelting mob, was killed in retaliatory fire.
In a success for security forces, police arrested two terrorists from Sopore in north Kashmir’s
Baramulla district. “Two hand grenades and one pistol were recovered from their possession,” said a police officer, adding that the two were planning to recruit youths into militancy.
