Joseph Leroy Soper, 37, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 31, 2018, in his home. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel. There also will be a celebration of life gathering from 4 to 9 p.m. June 2 at Bever Park Pavilion.
Joseph was born May 30, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William D. Soper and Lorena Kimpton. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School, Class of 1999. He enjoyed playing basketball, fishing, going to the casino and spending time with his family.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Lorena (Mark) Moes and William (Connie) Soper, both of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, Tia Barrios, Melissa Soper, Clint Moes, Clayton Moes, Brandon Soper and Brianna Soper; his four nieces; two nephews; his grandparents, Jim and Pat Moes; as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmy Kimpton, JoAnn Kimpton, Don Soper and Joann Brown.
