NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the Videocon-ICICI Bank loan transaction for any quid-pro-quo deals, will question the bank’s CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar. The investigating agency has already questioned many ICICI Bank officials.

The CBI has registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) to probe the alleged nexus between Deepak and Videocon chairman Venugopal Dhoot. PE is a precursor to registering an FIR and the agency can close the probe if it does not find merit in the accusations. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate is waiting for the CBI to file a case in the matter so that it can also initiate probe.

Kochhar’s role under radar
CBI officials have said they want to know the role of Chanda Kochhar in sanctioning the loan to the Videocon Group
