
Thunderstorm likely in coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh

VISAKHAPATNAM: Parts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts received mild showers and gale on Monday.The highest 4 cm rainfall was recorded at Vepada in Vizianagaram district, Peapally in Kurnool district received 3 cm rain and 2 cm at Ongole in Prakasam district. Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district and Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district also received rain.
Many places in the districts of West Godavari, Vizianagaram, Krishna and Anantapur received 1-2 cm rainfall on Monday.According to officials of Indian Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is extending up to 1.5 km above the mean sea level over North Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood.
“On the formation of trough, thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Prakasam of Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours,” said an IMD official.Meanwhile, with the drastic change in the weather conditions, maximum temperatures at many places have been dropped.
