Loose Women host Andrea McLean reveals memory loss battle ‘I take a notebook everywhere’
LOOSE WOMEN cast member Andrea McLean has opened up about suffering with memory loss after going through the menopause.
The presenter, who has fronted Loose Women since 2007, admitted she has to carry a notepad around to help her with remembering simple tasks.
The 48-year-old likened her forgetfulness to “brain fog” following her hysterectomy last year.
Andrea also compared her troubles to living in hit 2000 movie Momento and said she’d “forget her routine” if it wasn’t down in black and white.
“It’s short-term,” the mother-of-two commented. “It’s that sort of memory loss where you walk into a room and think, 'I came in here for something, what was it?'
“You walk into a bedroom and think, ‘What did I do this for?’ You have to go back downstairs and retrace your steps… ah, that was it!”
It’s like a brain fog. It’s annoying
Andrea continued: “You find most things in the fridge. That sort of thing. It’s like a brain fog. It’s annoying.
“I have a notebook I take everywhere, and I write everything down,” during an interview with the Daily Mirror.
It comes after the brunette beauty said she had been struggling with hot flushes, especially when fronting the daytime ITV series.
In a previous interview with The Sun, Andrea stated: “In terms of the physical side of it, it was awful.
“I had sweat running down my back, down my neck.”

Andrea said she struggled under the hot studio lights on Loose Women and developed odd ways to deal with it.
She added: “In every break, the air conditioning was on, it was off, I was fanning myself, doing the Birdie Dance.
“I was going through bags of tissues and mopping myself down and I was having to do that in the break while nobody was looking.”
Andrea got married back in November to businessman Nick Feeney, who proposed in Paris the previous August.
The star has been married twice before. First to Nick Green for five years until 2005, and four years later to Steve Toms.

She is mum to Finlay, 16, and 11-year-old Amy.
Meanwhile, Andrea’s comments come after she spilled all on her “daring” sex life with Nick.
The star said: "Thankfully Nick and I are all good to go in the bedroom. My hysterectomy definitely made us stronger as a couple.
"We never had a honeymoon period, because we met just as I was in the middle of it all.”
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
