150 students take part in events held to mark golden jubilee celebration of college

The golden jubilee year of Bharathidasan Government College for Women in Puducherry has been filled with fun and frolic for the students of the institution.

Every department has been organising different events to mark the celebration of the golden jubilee year beginning from January.

Following the inter-nursery competition organised by the Department of Home Science and cultural events conducted by the Department of Economics in the last week of March, the Department of History joined the celebration on April 2.

They organised a one-day ‘Talent Exhibition’ as a part of the celebration. The off-stage events began at 9.30 a.m.

“Nearly 37 students participated in the Mehandi competition and seven in cartoon drawing. A total of 150 students took part in the various competitions we conducted,” said M.Geetha, Assistant Professor, Department of History.

The students exhibited their talents in various categories including handwriting, mehandi, cooking, drawing, dance, singing, comedy, both off stage and on stage.

It was not a competition but an exhibition of talent. Principal P.Poongavanam participated in the event and B.Ramachandra Reddy, Associate Professor of History, Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Post Graduate Studies, Puducherry was the guest of honour.

All faculty members M.Geetha, B.B.Satpathy, Md.Rais Kahn of the Department under the leadership of HoD Mercy Thenmozhi supervised the events.
