
DETROIT -- FCA US snapped an 18-month losing streak in March with a 14 percent sales increase to 216,063 vehicles on the strength of a 45 percent increase in Jeep sales, which topped 100,000 units in a month for the first time in the brand's history.
The company's fleet mix rose to 25 percent for the month, from 23 percent a year ago, FCA said in a statement.
Brands: Jeep up 45%; Ram down 13%; Chrysler up 15%; Fiat down 47%; Dodge down 1.8%; Alfa Romeo 2,576 vehicles.
Notable nameplates: Ram pickup down 11%; Chrysler Pacifica up 40%; Jeep Cherokee up 63%; Jeep Grand Cherokee down 3.7%; Jeep Wrangler up 70%; Jeep Compass up 553%; Dodge Journey down 13%; Alfa Romeo Stelvio, sales of 1,270 vehicles.
Incentives: $4,424 per vehicle, up 4.1% from a year earlier, according to ALG.
Average transaction price: $34,240, up 3.5% from a year earlier, ALG says.
Fleet mix: 25%, up 2 percentage points from a year earlier. Retail sales up 11 percent from a year earlier.
Inventory: 611,340 vehicles, a 79-day supply, down from 85 in February.
