Rail yatra evokes good response in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram districts

Former MP and Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika convener Konathala Ramakrishna on Monday asked the State BJP MPs and MLAs to resign immediately as they failed to convince their Modi government in ensuring the Special Category Status for AP and the railway zone for Visakhapatnam. He said there was no need for the TDP and the YSRCP MPs to resign. There would be real pressure on the NDA government only with the resignation of the BJP MPs since the party had failed to meet promises made in its own manifesto.

Railway Zone Sadhana Samiti consisting of various organisations including the YSRCP, CPI, CPI(M), Lok Satta, Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika and journalists’ associations organised rail yatra in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts apart from Visakhapatnam. YSRCP leaders Majji Srinivasa Rao, Ashapu Venu, Majji Trinadha Rao and CPI leader Bugata Ashok led a massive protest at the Vizianagaram railway station, seeking zone status for Visakhapatnam. They interacted with Mr. Konatala Ramakrishna, Samiti convener JV Satyanarayana Murthy, Lok Satta-AP president Bhisetti Babji and others there.

Dig at Modi

Mr. Ramakrishna alleged that the Modi government was weakening the parliamentary democracy system by denying discussion on the ‘No-Confidence Motion’ moved by various parties. He alleged that the Central government had done a lot of injustice to AP by ignoring all its legitimate demands. Addressing a public meeting at Kasibugga of Srikakulam district, Mr. Satyanarayana Murthy said the people of North Andhra region would teach a strong lesson to the BJP in the general election.

CPI-Srikakulam district secretary Sanapala Narasimhulu said there was huge response from the people for the rail yatra which covered many areas in the North Andhra region. He said the backward Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts would get the maximum benefit with the spur of economic activity if Visakhaptnam was made railway zone. Journalists’ association leaders MRN Varma, S. Jogi Naidu and others assured to extend maximum support to the organisations fighting for the issues.
