Residential school with futuristic teaching approach opens

BHUBANESWAR:  Chief  Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday unveiled SAI International Residential School (SIRS), a facility complete with modern academic and learning infrastructure, located on the outskirts of the Capital. Elaborating the proactive steps taken by Odisha Government to bring in reforms in education sector in the last 18 years, Naveen said education has been a key area of his Government and all measures are being taken to make the State, in general, and Bhubaneswar in particular, the education hub of the country.

Ancient Odisha was famous as a centre of knowledge and we strive to uphold the image by bringing in innovation and latest global practices of teachinglearning process,” the Chief Minister said and added that SIRS has added another feather to the State’s educational sector. Minister for School and Mass Education Badri Narayan Patra said schools should go beyond the traditional framework and provide students a wider universe to explore. SIRS, which comes from the stable of SAI International Group, is a fully residential co-education school for students from Class VI to VIII.

Adopting future-ready teaching and learning systems and complimented by a team of qualified teachers, it is equipped with sophisticated labs for robotics, mathematics, science, language and entrepreneurship to provide students challenging and projects-based work. It also has a top-class stadium, hi-tech sporting facilities and experienced coaches to inspire students to take up sports. The CBSEaffiliated school is built on a sprawling 35 acre land at Ramdaspur abutting Bhubaneswar. Speaking on the occasion, Director of British Council India Alan Gemmell lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister to make youth of Odisha more employable, both nationally and internationally.

He said British Council has been a learning partner of SAI International School since 2009 and hoped the partnership would bring in more collaborative engagements for the two schools. Chairman of SAI International Bijoy Kumar Sahoo, vice chairperson Silpi Sahoo, Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy, ED of Central Bank of India BS Shekhawat, president SME, Axis Bank JP Singh and Headmaster of SIRS Amitabh Agnihotri were also present.
