Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.T. Rama Rao warned officials of serious action for faults in road maintenance during monsoons. During a meeting on Monday with the engineering officials of GHMC, water board and Hyderabad Road Development Corporation, Mr. Rama Rao sought permanent solutions for inundation-prone roads in the city in the coming 60 days.

He asked zonal commissioners to focus on the 181 places of inundation and 346 vulnerable points on roads which have been identified. The holidays may be cancelled for the engineering staff for the next two months, so that the repairs may be completed.

GHMC should play a pro-active role in maintenance of Metro Rail corridors, and the stretches under HRDCL, he said. He asked the GHMC to coordinate with the HMWSSB for road repairs where the water pipelines were being laid and said that attention should be paid to manhole maintenance.

Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail, N.V.S. Reddy, MD, HMWSSB M. Dana Kishore and deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin attended the meeting.
