What can be considered as a major jolt to the Ranchi Smart City project continuing in the State newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yateen Kumar Suman has quit the post after a few months of joining.

It is learnt that Yateen Kumar Suman was “not feeling comfortable while working with the setup given to him” for the smart city and had made his intentions clear to the senior officials.

Additional Chief Secretary with the Urban Development and Housing Department Arun Kumar Singh confirmed the development. “Yes, we got his resignation letter today itself. No final decision has been taken and we would look into it before going ahead. He has cited no reason for his quitting the post,” said Arun Kumar Singh on Monday.

Notable here is that the Department after rigorous expeditions and rounds of advertisements published had managed to appoint Yateen Kumar Suman on the post of CEO for the Ranchi Smart City last October.

But the MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (Dean's Lister) and B Tech in Electronics Engineering from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad (Gold Medalist) with 15 years of prior work experiences in organisations such as DRDO, UBS, McKinsey, PWC as well as Tax Officer with Goverment of Bihar, could remain on the key position for about six months.

Ranchi is one of the 100 smart cities under the Smart City Mission of the Government of India.

The city vowed to be developed as green field city on the HEC land is slated to have a knowledge hub for educational excellence, an efficiently managed traffic and transportation system based city aided by Information Technology (IT) and well specified commercial, residential and official spaces.
