ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Our national debt is staggering. But it is Congress that is at fault for spending on unconstitutional things. If Congress only appropriated funds for that which it is authorized to do by the U.S. Constitution, we could start paying off our debt. That we do not have spending cuts is not the fault of the Constitution, so changing the Constitution by having a constitutional convention, as some have suggested, is not the solution to our debt. The solution is to change Congress.
