JD(S) will win more than 100 Assembly seats: HDK

Janata Dal (Secular) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy has said his party will win 113 seats in the Assembly election and secure at least 25 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Reacting to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement that the JD(S) would not win more than 25 seats, Mr. Kumaraswamy said at a press conference here on Tuesday that Mr. Siddaramaiah was trying to divert people’s attention by making such statements repeatedly. “ I would like to tell him he would have to take another birth to succeed in his efforts", he said.

There is an opinion among some people, he said, that by joining hands with the BJP in the past he had harmed his father Deve Gowda’s politics. “This time I wish to make my father happy by securing 113 seats in the election. In the next Lok Sabha election, my aim is to win 25 seats so that the State could gain strength to raise its voice at the Centre.”

He reiterated that only two persons from his family - he and his brother Revanna - would contest the polls this time. “I have taken this tough decision so that opposition parties no more call us the party of father and sons,” he said.

Party MLAs H.S. Prakash, C.N. Balakrishna, and H.K. Kumaraswamy and other leaders were present.
