DORIS (SHEELEY) SMITH
Urbana

Doris (Sheeley) Smith, 91, of Urbana, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Living Center West surrounded by her family. Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana, with a Scripture service starting at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church with Father Ardel Barta officiating. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery, Urbana. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Doris was born June 12, 1926, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Anna (McGuire) Sheeley. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Smith on June 7, 1949, in Masonville. To this union were born six children. Doris was a homemaker, member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Urbana, Altar and Rosary society, Legion Auxiliary and Urbana Birthday Club. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris babysat in her caring home for many years.
Doris is survived by her children, Connie (Bud) Miller of Walker, Gary (Michele) Smith of Marion, Linda (Don) Burke of Center Point, Pat (Betty) Smith of Urbana and Mary (Scott) Zogg of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Cliff) Zieser; and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Sheeley and Madonna (Leo) Roseberry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, Richard and Anna; infant son, Dennis; sisters, Loretta (Joe) Houlahan, Lorraine Sheeley, Mary Jo (Jim) Kortenkamp and Marge (Ralph) Sanders; brothers, Claire (Donna) Sheeley and Cyril Sheeley; and her in-laws, Rosie (Leo) Takes, Katherine Smith, Paul (Vi) Smith, Millie (Leo) Peters, Junior (Arlene) Smith, Bernadine (Jim) Hepker and Robert Smith.
Her family would like to thank all of the staff at Evergreen Estates II and Living Center West for all of the loving care they gave to Doris.
