Gur prices up on increased offtake

Chakku prices were trading higher by Rs 50 per at the wholesale (jaggery) market in the national capital today following increased offtake by stockists and retailers amid restricted supplies.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar markets also depicted a firm trend with prices of select varieties improving on paucity of stocks amid better offtake.

Marketmen said restricted arrivals and increased demand from stockists and retailers mainly pushed up prices.

Coming to Muradnagar, Pedi and Dhayya prices were enquired higher at Rs 2,175-2,300 and Rs 2,200-2,250 per from Rs 2,075-2,150 and Rs 2,100-2,150 earlier.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

chakku Rs 2,550-2,650, Pedi Rs 2,500-2,600, Dhayya Rs 2,700-2,800 and Shakkar Rs 2,900-3,000.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,000-2,100, Chakku Rs 2,250-2,450, Khurpa Rs 2,075-2,150 and Ladoo Rs 2,250- 2,350.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,175-2,300 and Dhayya Rs 2,200-2,250.
