RAJBIRAJ: A child who had gone missing four months ago in Rajbiraj Municipality of Saptari district has still not been found. This incident has affected the day to day lives of his family members including his mother Anita Devi, father Bijuli Yadav, and grandfather Nathuni Yadav.

A local of Singyoun in ward 12 of the municipality, 13-year-old Mithilesh Yadav had gone missing four months ago on his way home after visiting his sister. Mithilesh had gone to visit his sister Sonu who lives in Dumari of Rajbiraj Municipality-2 on November 23.

Mithilesh was supposed to return back home on the morning of November 24, but disappeared on his way. He had left his sister’s house at nine in the morning in his new bicycle. Mithilesh’s family are worried and bewildered as the boy would hardly go anywhere outside of his home other than school.

Since the boy went missing, the family has neither eaten nor slept properly. “We have constantly been waiting for his return,” says his mother Anita with tear-filled eyes.

Mithilesh was studying in grade 6 at Little Angels Boarding School of Rajbiraj Municipality-5. According to the principal of the school, Narendra Dev, the school authorities have also been involved in carrying out the search for the boy along with his family, however, there has been no leads as to where the boy might be.

The teachers and students of the school have organised rallys, corner meetings, press releases time and again to pressurise the local administration to intensify the search process. Despite these efforts, nothing has come to light regarding the whereabouts of the boy.

Mithilesh’s father Bijuli Yadav said, “We request the police to be seriously involved in the search operation for my missing son.” He has also indicated that his son might have been kidnapped by some villagers supporting different political parties, and has requested the police to carry out investigations from that angle as well. However, he did not mention the names of the people.

The family members and relatives of Mithilesh have also appealed to human rights activists, mediapersons among others to support the search initiative along with the security personnel.

Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Singh informed that the police have been actively carrying out the search operation for Mithilesh from the day he had gone out of contact with his family, but to no avail. He further added that the search is also being carried out on the Indian side of the border area with the help of Indian security personnel.

A separate team of police have been deployed to carry out the search for Mithilesh from the District Police Office, informed SP Singh, hoping for positive results.
