Demand for high-quality, productive farmland remains strong, according to recent farmland sales data. Here are results from three February 2018 farmland auctions, where prices topped $10,00 per acre.
$14,600 PER ACRE: BENTON COUNTY, IOWA
A Feb. 9, auction in Benton County, Iowa saw a track of 176 acres sell for $14,300 per acre. The property is 6 miles north of Keystone, Iowa, and featured 172.6 tillable acres and a CSR2 of 91.6. Soil types include Dinsdale, Colo-Ely and Tama. The tract has a proven record of high productivity for corn and soybeans.

$13,000 PER ACRE: Sangamon County, Ill.
A Feb. 20, acre in Sangamon County, Ill., saw 222.4 acres sell for $13,000 per acre. The property, which is 5 miles south of Pleasant Plains, Ill., sold in two tracts. Both tracts include a weighted soil PI of 141.2 and Ipava, Osco, Sable and Denny silt loams.
Tract 1: 149.2 acres, nearly all tillable.
Tract 2: 73.2 acres, nearly all tillable.

$10,200 PER ACRE: Moody County, S.D.
A Feb. 9 auction in Moody County, S.D., saw 40 acres sell for $10,200 per acre. The property is 9 miles north of Garretson, S.D., and features highly productive and level ground. Production information includes a 129-bu. PLC corn yield and 43-bu. soybean PLC yield.
