Rajkot: Speed demons could have a tough time racing away on the city roads.
The traffic police has now been armed with a speed gun that can check the speed of vehicles. For now, traffic police has got one speed gun on Wednesday, which will be used on specific roads. A traffic constable has also been trained to handle it.
The gun will work automatically after the cop fixes the vehicle’s speed on the particular road or stretch of the road. If any vehicle is seen overspeeding, the gun will capture its picture and record time, date, place and registration plate. This data will be immediately transferred to connecting laptop and through a software, a message will be sent to next traffic point which can stop the vehicle.
This gun can be operated in the night but with a limitation that it won’t be able to capture picture of driver but only the high security number plate. tnn
