Wrapping up its final placements, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) has notched up an impressive record with an average salary of ₹17.76 lakh per annum and with a highest international salary of ₹52 lakh per annum.

This year, 367 out of the 382 students of the graduating batch of the postgraduate programme secured offers from major recruiters such as Deloitte, EY and Goldman Sachs, among others.

However, 11 students opted to sign out of the placement process while four students remained unplaced. The placements team would continue to offer support to the unplaced students to find roles that suit their aspirations, an official release said.

Diverse roles in consulting were offered to 26% of the candidates, while sales and marketing roles were offered to 25% and finance functions to 16% of the students.

Convocation

The 20th convocation of the IIM-K on the campus at Kunnamangalam would be held on Saturday. Janmejaya Sinha, chairman of the Asia-Pacific region of the Boston Consulting Group, will deliver the convocation address.

Incidentally, the IIM-K, which came fifth in the category of management institutions in the National Institutions Ranking Framework of the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2017, witnessed 178 companies participating in the placement process. And that was a whopping 58% increase from the 2017 placement season.

Of this, over 75 firms were first-time recruiters. The release said that the season witnessed an increase in the number of finance profiles on placements with major companies making smart offers to the candidates. Consulting domains were offered to 26% of the batch. Sales and marketing roles of major brands also offered better prospects to the students.

Some major recruiters, Aditya Birla, Reliance Industries, RPG Group and Tata Administrative Services, offered roles in the general management profile.

While the operations role witnessed participation from well-known recruiters such as Amazon, other recruiters like Microsoft, TCS and Wipro recruited for their IT and Analytics jobs.
