South Africa thrashed Australia by 492 runs to win the four-match Test series 3-1. Vernon Philander took six wickets in no time as the visitors, chasing a mammoth target of 612, were bundled out for 119. South Africa completed their biggest victory over the Australians in tests in terms of runs, and also completed their first home series win over the demoralised visitors since 1970.
