A 26-year-old woman died of burn injuries, under suspicious circumstances, at her house in Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar locality of Hyderabad.

On Monday night, Saumya's neighbours noticed smoke coming out of her house and rushed to the spot. Curiously, they found the door of the house locked from outside.

As they opened the door, they found Saumya and her 18 month-old son inside the house. Saumya had suffered burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Neighbours rescued her son who did not suffer any burn injuries. Saumya's husband, a civil engineer, was not in the house when the incident occurred.

Police have registered a case and are investigating if Saumya attemped suicide or she was murdered.
