Pittsburg — Pittsburg High School’s offense was clicking on all-cylinders on Monday, pacing them to a 14-4 victory against Neosho in five innings.
After falling behind 3-0 after the first inning, the Dragons scored five runs in the second to snatch the lead, and six runs in the fifth to clinch the victory.
Brett Weimers went 2-for-3 at the plate with six RBIs. Caden Bressler finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Ben Boekhout also went 3-for-3. Jerek Butcher and Brett Weimers knocked two hits each for the Dragons.
Bressler drew a walk with the bases loaded to open the scoring in the second frame, with Boekhout coming home on the play. Weimers brought home Bressler and Tye Cicero with a triple in the next at-bat to give the Dragons the lead 4-3.
Butcher singled home Weimer for the last run in the inning.
The Dragons tacked on two runs in the third and one run in the fourth before their huge fifth.
As rain begin the fall on the field in the fifth the umpires decided to call the game with the Dragons up to a comfortable lead.
