CBI has registered a new case against arrested 1993 bomb blast accused
Farooq Takla, a close aide of fugitive gangster
Dawood Ibrahim, for obtaining a passport from
Consulate General of India in Dubai with the help of forged documents.
Takla fled India after the blast and was hiding in Dubai. He had created his fake identity and in 2001, had submitted forged documents to Consulate General of India in Dubai after identifying himself as Mustaq Mohammad Mia. He managed to obtain a passport with a new name which expired in 2002. In 2011, he again approached the Consulate General of India in Dubai and managed to get new passport with the name of Mustaq with the help of forged documents, said CBI sources.
Takla was travelling after using the passport when he was reportedly arrested by the CBI at Delhi airport. There were reports that said that government agencies brought Takla from Dubai, after which the CBI has arrested him at the airport in connection of the blast case. Takla fled India 25 years ago after the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai and a Red Corner Notice was issued against him in 1995.
