BHUBANESWAR:  Ahead of BJP president Amit Shah’s two-day visit to the State, beginning Wednesday, party’s national general secretary and Odisha incharge Arun Singh voiced confidence of winning more than 120 of the 147 Assembly seats in the 2019 election. While people of the State have lost faith on ruling BJD for its failure on all fronts, their confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is growing simply because the NDA Government’s commitment for the development of the State by extending sizeable Central assistance, Singh told reporters here.

People of the State are fed up with the backwardness, misrule and corruption during the BJD rule. Though the regional party is in power for four consecutive terms, it has failed to meet the basic needs of the people. While the farmers are in distress, the youth are fed up due to lack of employment opportunities despite huge employment potential in the State. There is an air of despondency in the state, he said. Dubbing the State Government as directionless, Singh said the ruling party has not been able to provide safe drinking water to the people even after 18 years.

The rural health services and education system have collapsed due to large scale vacancy in doctor and teacher posts. The people are eagerly waiting for good governance which the BJP can provide, Singh added. Shah unveiled BJP’s ‘Mission 120+’ for the Odisha during his September 2017 visit to the State. He is scheduled to address two public meetings - first at Bhawanipatna on April 4 followed by Balangir the next day, Singh said.
