A day after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) official was suspended for laxity in his duty in connection with the Class XII Economics paper leak, the accused told police that they do not have any links with the suspended official, said a senior investigator on Monday. The police said the arrested teachers Rishabh, 29 and Rohit, 26  of the Mother Khazani Convent School in Bawana, and private coaching centre tutor Tauqeer, 26 were quizzed over their possible links with CBSE official K S Rana after his suspension, but they denied having any link with him.

Police sources said that they are yet to question K S Rana, after he was suspended by the Human Resource and Development Ministry on Sunday.

Investigators said that the Principal of the Mother Khazani Convent School was summoned for questioning on Monday,  a day after two of its teachers were arrested for leaking the CBSE Class XII Economics exam paper. The principal is likely to be questioned as the principal is the custodian of the papers before they are handed over to the teachers. The police, who are yet to identify the mastermind, will be investigating if there was any lapse on the principal's part. The police have also summoned CBSE officials who were in the chain of hierarchy in the distribution of the question papers

Making their first arrests in the CBSE exam paper leak case, the police on Sunday had arrested three people - two teachers and one tutor of a coaching centre - in connection with the CBSE Class XII Economics exam paper leak. The police have stated that the two teachers clicked photos of the question paper at 9.15 am and passed it to coaching centre owner, who passed it to students.

The investigation has revealed that the question paper was leaked in two forms - a printed copy which was sent via WhatsApp as well as a handwritten paper which was circulated. The coaching centre owner has been identified as Tauqeer, who runs a coaching centre in Delhi's Bawana. The two teachers have been identified as Rishab and Rohit. The paper leak has caused the CBSE and the government to announce a re-examination of the Class 12 economics paper.

Anil Swarup, Secretary HRD Ministry, on Sunday announced the suspension of KS Rana, the CBSE official who was in charge of the Delhi school from where two teachers were arrested on Sunday for the alleged leak of Class XII Economics paper. Swarup said that Rana had been suspended with immediate effect on the directions of HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar as he had been “found lax in supervising examination centre (0859).  An official enquiry has been instituted in the matter”.
