POWERGRID to construct transmission line in Nepal

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) to construct 400kV D/C Transmission Line from Arun 3 Hydro Project in Nepal to Bathnaha (Nepal India Border) with estimated project cost at Rs 1000 Crore. SJVNL Arun-3 Power Development Company Pvt. Ltd. has assigned POWERGRID to construct transmission system for evacuation of power from Arun-3 HEP being constructed by them in Nepal. Apart from above, POWERGRID is already executing six consultancy assignments in Nepal, under funding by various multilateral agencies i.e. World Bank, ADB and Kfw with estimated project cost Rs 6,000 Cr.

BHEL wins Rs 4.4k-Cr order for 1x660 MW Supercritical Power Plant

In the face of stiff international competitive bidding (ICB), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a major order for setting up a 1x660 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh. Valued at approximately Rs 4,400 Crore including taxes & duties, the order has been placed on BHEL by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL). Located at Panki in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, the project will be executed by BHEL on Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) basis. The order is a testimony to BHEL's proven technological excellence and capability in executing power projects on EPC basis. The key equipment for the project will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Haridwar, Hyderabad, Ranipet, Bhopal, Bengaluru and Jhansi plants, while the company's Power Sector - Northern Region division will be responsible for construction and installation activities at the site. The plant shall be equipped with emission control equipment to meet the revised emission norms, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

AAI celebrates 23rd Annual Day with ‘Horizon’

Airports Authority of India (AAI), the mainstay of Civil Aviation in the country celebrated its 23rd Annual Day on 1st April, 2018 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi with a cultural extravaganza - 'Horizon.' Jayant Sinha, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation was the Chief Guest of the event. The colourful evening of music and celebration started with the felicitation of AAI airports that made a mark in ACI-ASQ and CSI Awards respectively. While the Airport Directors of Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore and Pune were felicitated for their respective airports making it under various categories of the coveted list of ACI-ASQ Awards 2017, APDs of AAI's Raipur, Udaipurand Dehradun were felicitated for their respective airports achieving 1st, 2nd and 3rdranks in the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) Survey. Apart from various airports, SubhashKumar, General Manager (Fire), the recipient of President's Medal for Fire Safety was also felicitated.

Pradhan inaugurates Mumbai’s first Yoga Garden – An ONGC CSR Project

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India inaugurated Mumbai’s first Yoga garden on March 29, 2018. The Garden, situated at Bandra Reclamation Sea link Promenade, is an ONGC CSR project created with the aim of increasing public awareness about Yoga as a means of healthy holistic lifestyle. Pradhan highlighted that today Yoga is a lifestyle solution across the world and said that ONGC has always supported Yoga not only in the celebration of International Yoga Day but also among its employees through various programmes. He hoped that the promenade would become a permanent fixture in the tourist circuit of the city and a matter of pride for Mumbai. Shashi Shanker, CMD, ONGC reiterated ONGC’s commitment towards playing a vital role in nation building. He said that ONGC has supported various CSR initiatives across the country and hoped that this one-of-a-kind CSR project added another feather to Mumbai’s cityscape. The creation and design of the garden by USA Green Building Council and Indian Green Building council certified consultant addresses environmental concerns like soil erosion, ensuring highway embankment soil stabilization, rainwater harvesting, besides protecting an important public space and preventing its misuse.

NHDC pays Interim Dividend to NHPC

NHDC Ltd., a joint venture of NHPC & Madhya Pradesh Government, paid an interim dividend of Rupees Two Hundred Thirty Seven Crore Fifty Seven Lacs Thirty Five Thousand and Four Hundred to NHPC Limited of its 51% share for the financial year 2017-18. Chief Executive Director, NHDC Ltd., AG Ansari along with BL Saboo, CFO, NHDC presented a cheque to Balraj Joshi, CMD, NHPC & Chairman, NHDC in presence of MK Mittal, Director (Finance), NHPC,  Savitri Shrivastav, Nominee Director, NHDC, VK Gupta, General Manager and other officers of NHDC Limited.

ML Srivastava appointed as Protem Chairman Of Lalit Kala Akademi

ML Srivastava, Joint Secretary (Akademies), Ministry of Culture has been appointed as the Protem Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, on 29th March, 2018. He has been appointed Chairman by the President of India on the recommendation of the Minister of Culture. ML Srivastava has taken the charge of the office from the outgoing Administrator CS Krishna Setty.  Shrivastava will continue to hold the office till full time Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi is appointed. Shrivastava is a 1989 batch IFS officer and has held several important positions including the Vice Chancellor of Nava Nalanda Mahavihara.

HIGH LEVEL MEETING BETWEEN INDIAN AND KOREA COAST GUARD

DG Rajendra Singh, PTM, TM, Director General Indian Coast Guard is hosting a five member delegation of the Korea Coast Guard led by Commissioner General Park Kyung Min, Korea Coast Guard in India from 1 to 6 April 2018.  A High Level Meeting (HLM) between the Indian Coast Guard and Korea Coast Guard was held at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi on 2nd April under the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two agencies in 2006. The Indian delegation for the HLM was led by Director General Rajendra Singh, PTM, TM. The HLM focused on augmenting the operational level interaction and capacity building in areas of Search and Rescue, Pollution Response and Maritime Law Enforcement. Relations between the two Coast Guards go back a long way with ICG delegations and ships visiting Korea for professional interactions since 2005. This meeting and visit is in continuation of the efforts by the governments of the two countries to enhance cooperation between the Coast Guards in the field of maritime safety and security at sea.

DELHI LT Guv HOLDS MEETING WITH NR GM TO DE-CONGEST station AREAS

Anil Baijal, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, held a meeting with Vishwesh Chaube, General Manager, Northern Railway on 28 March. RN Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi, Senior Officers from Northern Railway, Delhi Police and Municipal Corporations were also present in the meeting.  Lt. Governer emphasized the need to have congestion free area in the vicinity of railway stations so that passengers who come to these stations do not face delays in reaching the stations or while leaving the stations due to traffic jams etc. The main issue deliberated upon were removal of  encroachments/hawkers/shops/unauthorized parked vehicles on the approach roads to  the Delhi Jn., New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Stations. The traffic management & parking on the approach roads to these stations were also discussed with a view to ensure unhindered movement of people and vehicles approaching these major stations. The shifting of DTC bus stop on SP Mukherjee Road and Hazrat Nizamuddin was also examined with a view to decongest the approach roads to the station.
