Top Gear’s Dunsfold Aerodrome to be Levelled for Housing
Top Gear is being forced to evacuate the Dunsfold Aerodrome that has served as its test track for years, as a housing development has been approved to be built on the site.
Dunsfold Aerodrome is a former Royal Canadian Airforce airfield. Top Gear began using the site’s paved airstrip as its test track in 2002, and continues to use it to test various vehicles to this day. That’s all set to change soon, though, with Surrey Secretary of State Sajid Javid approving a proposal to build 1,800 homes on the former RAF-operated airbase.

The housing proposal was apparently the source of much controversy among local residents. Unlike you and me, though, they aren’t upset about Top Gear getting the boot. They are mostly concerned that the influx of residents will put a strain on local roads and infrastructure.
It’s not clear where Top Gear may go now that Dunsfold is off limits. We know one thing, though – The Grand Tour guys (the former Top Gear trio, for those not in-the-know) certainly won’t be letting them share their so-called Eboladrome test track, which is located at the former RAF Wroughton airbase just outside of Swindon.
