Munroe Thuruthu in Kollam District of Kerala is one of the preferred destinations in the State which has established its place in the world tourism map for its wonderful scenic location and the exciting canal cruise with islets created with the help of backwaters of Ashtamudi lake and Kallada river. The Kollam district tourism promotion council or the DTPC has launched new tourism packages both in terms of domestic and international visitors, exploiting the potential of the islands.
A 40-seater boat starting from Kollam water gateway every day will carry visitors to the amazing islands. After reaching, the tourists will then be taken on cruise in small row boats along the canals that separate the islets of Munroe Thuruthu. After enjoying an ethnic-style lunch at the islands, the visitors will be transported back to Kollam. Also, the trip will be suitable for domestic travelers as the total duration would be around six hours.
Side by side, DTPC has also launched new tourism packages that help the tourists to tour the beauty of Ashtamudi Lake visiting Sambranikodi and Peringalam Thuruthu. The tourists will get an opportunity to have a closer look into the mangrove forests that stands in a line along the route. Also, luxury trips like ‘See Ashtamudi’ have also been arranged by DTPC this school vacation season.
