 As many as 41 members elected to the Rajya Sabha took oath of office today.
Of them, 23 belonged to BJP, six from Congress, four from Trinamool Congress, two each from Telugu Desam, RJD and JD(U), one each from NCP and Shiv Sena. They included 18 re-elected members.
Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, who administered the oath of office, welcomed the newly elected and re-elected members. He said election to the Upper House of Parliament has cast upon them heavy responsibilities and duties to strengthen the cause of democracy.
