MEP Infra bags NHAI contract

Mumbai: A joint venture between MEP Infrastructure Developers Ltd and Long Jian Road & Bridge Company Ltd has received a Letter of Award from National Highway Authority of India for extending the carriage width of National Highway 848 to eight lanes. The work was carried out on the stretch connecting Vadape in Bhiwandi tehsil to Thane.

Built under the Hybrid Annuity Model, the project is estimated to cost ₹1,182.87 crore and will be 23.798 km in length. The JV has been granted a concession period of 15 years, and the construction has to be completed within 910 days.

With this project under its belt, MEP Infra commands a large market share in the hybrid annuity space, and is one of the largest players with a basket of 10 projects in Maharashtra and Gujarat aggregating ₹7,942 crore across 1,893 lane kms. These projects are under the new Hybrid Annuity mode, which is a mix of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and build-operate-transfer (BOT) system.

NHAI and the concessionaires share the total project cost in a 40:60 ratio.
