Fire guts popular Squamish cafe

WATCH: A popular Squamish cafe has been badly damaged in an early morning fire Tuesday. Despite the devastating loss, the community is rallying around the owners as they face the challenge of rebuilding.

A popular Squamish restaurant has been gutted in an early morning fire.

Firefighters were called to Fergie’s Cafe on Squamish Valley Road on Tuesday just before 5 a.m., where they found flames rising from the structure.

Crews battled the fire for two hours before they put it out, but smoke could still be seen several hours later.

Most damage appears to be concentrated in the kitchen area, but it is not yet known how the fire started.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
