DHENKANAL: After a hectic door-to-door campaign, Hindol NAC is all set for election on Tuesday. As many as 9,400 voters will decide the fate of 54 candidates contesting in 16 Wards of the NAC. District BJD president and Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingh Sahoo said all the party candidates will come out victorious. Though the Congress ruled the NAC last time, BJD will form the council this time, he added. BJP nominees are also confident of winning the poll.
While the party campaigned on development agenda highlighting local issues, BJD banked on the popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. SP Santosh Nayak said at least four platoons of police forces along with one armed squad will be deployed in the town. The police administration has declared five booths as hypersensitive and 11 as sensitive.
One Additional SPranked officer will remain in charge for three days to supervise law and order situation. Police have also blocked major entry and exit points in the town and intensified patrolling to check any untoward situation. This year, most of the political parties engaged their star campaigners and Ollywood stars, who are generally roped in for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, to woo voters.
