“Ahhhh shrew!”

Nothing says viral content quite like animals across cyberspace doing hilarious things. But when a Reddit post shared close-up shots of a tiny elephant shrew sneezing, the photos went viral across all social media platforms last week.

Rather than coming across as gross, the sneeze documented in a series of photos is utterly adorable, with its tiny tongue completely flicked out with the force of it all.

Comments on the Reddit thread were mixed, ranging between “Why is its nose like an apple’s stem, this is overwhelming”, “This actually killed me it was so cute” and “Why have I never heard of this animal before?”

It’s not an unusual creature, but the elephant shrew isn’t one we often talk about, so when these pictures came to light, it’s only natural that people instantly started looking these critters up.

Native to Africa, their size ranges between 10cm and 30cm, pretty perfect for the palm of your hand and byte-sized memes.

When the Prince got fresh

Will Smith, the budding Instagrammer and YouTuber who’s also acted in a few movies here and there, recently met up with Sophia The Robot in the Cayman Islands — because that’s very normal — and when Smith puckered up for the “real, live electronic girl” she defied the opportunity of kissing the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and her face pretty much resonated with every girl who’s ever been approached in such a way.

According to Sophia’s website, “Every interaction I have with people has an impact on how I develop, and shapes who I eventually become. So please be nice to me as I would like to be a smart, compassionate robot. I hope you will join me on my journey to live, learn, and grow in the world so that I can realise my dream of becoming an awakening machine.”

Those meddling witchy kids

As if Supernatural fans aren’t die-hard enough, the CW series which is currently in its umpteenth season, is going to be airing a crossover episode with the Scooby gang aptly titled ‘Scoobynatural’.

The episode features ridiculously good-looking animated versions of Sam and Dean, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles respectively. In the spirit of crossover memes around Infinity Wars, Supernatural geeks are calling this the ‘most ambitious crossover event in history’.

And Tumblr, the watering hole for all Supernatural fans, have filled the platform to the brim with fan-art, memes and threads of ever-loving spooky love.
