Tourism chiefs expects good high in Cumbria visitor number

Cumbria visitor numberAs the Easter holidays approach the weekend, a hopeful outlook comes upon us, as traditionally it is considered as the official launch of the tourist season.

 
This weekend, hotels, bed and breakfasts and different visitor attractions are eager to welcome a flying start.

 
It is being expected that the Lake District’s newly acquired position as a World Heritage Site rejoiced with a visit from Prince Charles this week will additionally assist to attract visitors, with the county with two such sites at present, the second being Hadrian’s Wall.

 
Cumbria Tourism is the county’s official destination management organization, highlights a survey among visitor attractions across the county.

 
Data was collected from over 70 visitor attractions, talking about their six million-plus visitors.

 
Statistics from the annual visitor attraction survey shows a 3.4 percent growth to Cumbrian attractions last year.

 
These figures are developed on a 7.2 percent increase in 2015-2016, and 3.3 per cent between 2014-2015.

 
Gill Haigh, managing director of Cumbria Tourism, said: “It makes us extremely optimistic for the year ahead.

 
“We look forward to the Easter holidays and welcoming thousands of visitors to explore our world-class county. We are particularly delighted that the survey findings demonstrate just how much visitors are enjoying attractions throughout the county – from Carlisle to Kirkby Stephen, Maryport to Flookburgh, as well as the central Lake District.”
