2 DMK men threaten to immolate selves demanding Cauvery Management Board

Coimbatore: In order to condemn the Union government for failing to form Cauvery management board (CMB), two DMK men attempted to immolate themselves at Peelamedu on Monday. More than 300 protesters were arrested for staging protests. The party announced indefinite protest against the government for not forming CMB and started protest across the state on Sunday. A group of DMK cadres led by MLA N Karthick staged a rail roko at Singanallur railway station on Monday morning. They sat in front of the locomotive of a passenger train and raised slogans against the union and state governments.Meanwhile, two DMK functionaries, who came to Avinashi Road near Peelamedu, poured kerosene and tried to set them ablaze. However the police stopped the bid and arrested them.TNN
