Appoint full-time chairman of Spices Board: Par Panel

A parliamentary panel has pulled up the government for not appointing a full-time of for nearly two years.

Department-related parliamentary standing committee on commerce has sought reasons for the delay in the appointment.

It has suggested the to appoint a full-time of the board at the earliest.

"The committee deplores the fact that has been functioning without a full-time for nearly two years," the panel said in a report today.

It also recommended the department to take immediate action on the board's proposal to fix minimum import price for coriander to protect domestic producers from cheap imports.

Besides, it suggested to expedite the launch of national policy on spices after proper consultations with all the stake holders.
