Congress promises increased MSP to ryots

TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced that the Congress party after attaining power would increase the minimum support price for paddy and cotton produce to benefit the farming community in the state.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting in Peddapalli town as part of the Telangana Congress Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra on Monday night, he said that the MSP of paddy would be increased from the existing ₹1,500 per quintal to ₹2,000 per quintal and the cotton MSP from ₹4,300 per quintal to ₹ 6,000 per quintal.

Crop loan waiver

He also announced crop loan waiver of ₹ 2 lakh to the farmers in a one-time settlement.

He also tried to lure the women self-help group members by announcing ₹ 1 lakh revolving fund as grant to all the six lakh and odd SHGs and interest-free loans of ₹10 lakh to each group. He also assured revival of Abhayasatham pension scheme and increase of pension amount from ₹500 to ₹1,000 to beneficiary. He also assured to provide unemployment allowance of ₹3,000 to the unemployed youth and strive for the creation of more jobs.

Stating that all sections of society were unhappy with the TRS government for its adamant and autocratic rule, he called upon the people to teach a fitting lesson to the TRS in the coming elections scheduled to be held in December 2018 or January 2019. He alleged that the Chief Minister had developed his family into “golden family” neglecting the plight of the Telangana people, who strived for the formation of Telangana.

Senior Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy alleged that Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao had cheated the Constitution, the people of Telangana and the statehood movement and asked the people to teach a fitting lesson.

He said that the TRS government failed to provide MSP to the farmers in the last four years and was now planning to give ₹4,000 per acre to the farmers. Congress leaders Md. Shabbir Ali, D. Sridhar Babu, T. Jeevan Reddy, D.K. Aruna, A. Revanth Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, D. Nagender, Ch. Vijaya Ramana Rao and others were also present.
