The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium is located in Gahunje, the outskirts of Pune. Formerly known as Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, it was inaugurated in 2012 by former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar. The state-of-the-art stadium was built by London's Hopkins Architects and is the home of the Maharashtra Cricket Association. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 37,000. It's name was changed to Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium after Sahara India Pariwar failed to pay the entire amount promised for acquiring the naming rights. The stadium hosted its first international game in 2012 - a T20I between India and England. The pitch at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium is known to favour the batsmen.
