TUIThe airline companies fail to pay £4million in compensation to thousands of Brits despite court ruling.

The holiday makers have denied the £4million in compensation from airlines, despite the courts ordering firms to hand over the cash.

There are about 10,000 Brits are still owed payouts for delays and cancellations. The holiday giant — formerly known as Thomson — owes 5,000 passengers a total of £2.4million, while budget airline easyJet has failed to pay more than 3,000 travellers compensation totaling £1.5million.

The remaining 2,000-plus cases are owed small sums by other airlines. The law firm Bott and Comapny said, of its 7,000 cases against TUI last year, 73 per cent had to go to court.

It said the company “displays ignorance” in flouting court rulings. The customers have tried to recuperate compensation from the airline but were ignored so they had no other choice but to come to for help. The passengers are entitled to refunds if flights are delayed under EU law.

Nicos Nicolaou spent over a year battling for £350 after his flight to the Greek island of Kefalonia was cancelled in October 2016.
