Naidu to call on the floor leaders

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu is arriving in New Delhi on Monday night for a two-day tour. He will be meeting floor leaders of both Houses of Parliament to talk on the no-confidence motion moved by his party.

According to sources, Mr. Naidu has clarified that his visit should not be misconstrued as a political trip to position himself in any alternate front against the BJP-led government in the 2019 elections.

β€œHe will meet floor leaders in the Parliament. The visit is to put more pressure on the Centre to fulfil promises made to Andhra Pradesh,” TDP leader Y.S. Chowdary said. So while Mr. Naidu will meet Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, he is unlikely to meet party president Rahul Gandhi or UPA chairman Sonia Gandhi.
