Sagala sees need for complete system overhaul

The country needed a complete systems’ overhaul to ensure that the youth of the nation had a brighter future and it was the responsibility of the President and the Prime Minister to do so, Minister of Project Management, Youth Affairs and Southern Development, Sagala Ratnayaka said at the closing ceremony of the Yowvun Puraya youth camp at Nikaweratiya on Saturday.

President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe attended the event. “In 2015, we got a big youth vote. They voted for us because they wanted equal opportunity. For that we must change the system and regardless of politics we must all join hands to ensure that the youth of the nation have a bright future.”

Ratnayaka added that the government could learn a lot from the youth gathered at Yovun Puraya. “I asked those who have gathered here to give us a feedback. We will go through their response and take them on board when launching future youth programme. The youth are idealistic by nature and it’s the responsibility of the government to guide them along the correct path.”
