Aamir Khan's films have a history of phenomenal box-office success at the Chinese box-office. Ever since the release of his 2008 super-hit film 3-Idiots, Khan (Uncle Mi, as he is called in the Middle Kingdom) has been commanding a huge fan-following in China and nearby countries. But with 2016's Dangal and 2017's Secret Superstar — he created history by overtaking major Hollywood releases and maintaining a strong grip at the box-office.
Now it is reported that Secret Superstar — a poignant tale of a young girl who aspires to become a singer along with facing a strong opposition from her father — is all set to be released in Hong Kong.

Despite running for just 18 days in February, Secret Superstar had become the highest-grossing import film of the month in China with its gross of 260 million yuan ($41 million), even outshining Hollywood films such as Maze Runner: The Death Cure and The Greatest Showman, and homegrown movies such as Forever Young, The Faces of My Gene, and Till the End of the World, as reported earlier by Firstpost.
Secret Superstar, which stars Aamir Khan in a 22-minute special appearance, has also emerged as the sixth highest-grossing foreign film in China in February 2018. The film opened to a record-breaking $6.86 million, the highest-opening day figure for an Indian movie in China, on 19 January.
The film's consistent month-long run has steered Aamir Khan's cumulative box-office receipts in China to $346.5 million (Rs 2,231 cr).
Directed by Advait Chandan and starring Zaira Wasim in the lead role, Secret Superstar was made on a shoe-string budget of $2.5 million. The film has won numerous awards last year and has been acclaimed for its beautiful portrayal of a mother-daughter relationship on screen.
