Dalit protests: 800 anti-riot policemen rushed to UP, MP

The Centre today rushed policemen to and after violent protests erupted during a nationwide bandh called by outfits against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Two companies of (RAF) personnel have been sent to and one company each to and (all in UP), a said.

The verdict is being widely criticised by the Dalits and the Opposition who claim that the dilution of the Act will lead to more and crimes against the backward community.
