India has been facing nationwide bandh on Monday to strike against the alleged dilution of SC\ST Act.  The protest headed by Dalit organisations turned violent today as the people carried out rail roko, morchas in Meerut, Jharkhand, Ajmer, Alwar, Jaipur etc. On Monday, the government sent a review plea in the Supreme Court.

As per Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, the government has lodged a plea on the verdict by Supreme Court on the SC/ST act. “We have filed a comprehensive review petition which will be presented before the court by the senior lawyers of the government,” he added.

The condition remains uptight in Punjab as several business establishments, educational institutions remain shut. Class 12 and 10 CBSE exams have been delayed in Punjab that was slated to be held today. Papers will be conducted as planned in Chandigarh and other parts of India.

“Taking cognizance of the letter of the director general (school education), the CBSE decided to postpone all class 12 and 10 examinations scheduled for April 2 , 2018 in the state of Punjab,” board stated.

Also the transport facilities have been closed due to the Bharat bandh.

On March 20, Supreme Court had diluted the provisions of SC and SC Act in a bid to guard honest public servants setting free bona fide duties from being blackmailed with fake cases under the Act.
