Rain likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema

Light drizzle brings down temperature, in Vijayawada city on Sunday evening | P Ravindra Babu

VIJAYAWADA: Isolated rain with hailstones and gusty storms lashed Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema region on Sunday. The weather turned cool and pleasant in the evening in the coastal region where as cool winds and moderate rains occurred in Rayalaseema region since morning.
Weathermen stated that similar weather conditions will last for a day or two as trough is active in the Arabian sea.

The day temperatures across the State have come down. Isolated villages in Visakhapatnam district received over 4 cm rainfall with heavy winds with a speed of 60 kmph.
Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts received around 2-3 cm of rainfall. Krishna and Guntur districts also received some light drizzle and moderate winds.

YK Reddy, IMD official, Hyderabad, said, “The day temperatures will fall drastically and hardly they cross 35 degrees celsius. Moderate rain may occur in the coastal region and hail storms might take place in the Rayalaseema region. Apart from the rains, lightning strikes also might occur in isolated regions across the coastal line.”

The coastal parts of the State, including Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Krishna and Guntur, received moderate  rainfall. In the next 24 hours, hailstorms might occur in Krishna, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore and Guntur districts.
