BHUBANESWAR:Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday calls upon youths to become an agent of change to bring rapid transformation in the State.Addressing a function organised by Kalinga Association for Protection of Culture and Heritage (KAPOCH) to mark Utkal Divas, Pradhan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘New India’ will not be possible without a ‘New Odisha’. “While the country is going to celebrate 75th years of its Independence in 2022, the centenary celebration of Odisha will be held in 2036. We must make our resolve to build a prosperous Odisha and make it one of the leading states in the country,” he said.

Earlier in the day, he had inaugurated the ‘Nua Odisha Nirmana Abhijan’ on Chandrabhaga sea beach, Konark in Puri district.Addressing a function there, Pradhan recalled the glorious history of Odisha and the vital role played by many Odias at different times for the State. “If Odia language will not be imbibed into the children, the dream of those who fought for a separate State will remain unfulfilled,” he said.

Cleanliness is a social responsibility. The health condition of children in 20 districts of Odisha is alarming due to malnutrition. Not only the Government, but a massive public awareness needs to be created to fight such evils. Similarly, someone has also to take the charge of guiding the 42 lakh youths of the State, he added.Upendra Maharana, a descendant of legendary Bisu Maharana and Dharmapada, administered pledge to the youth for building a ‘New Odisha’.
