In the wake of Dalit organisations’ call for a nationwide strike (Bharath bandh) against the Supreme Court’s dilution of SC\ST Atrocities Act, the CBSE has postponed all Class 12 and 10 exams scheduled for Monday in Punjab. However, exams will be held as scheduled in Chandigarh and in the rest of the country.
The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Centre’s stand on a court-monitored probe into the recent leaks of mathematics and economics papers of class 10 and 12. The bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar directed the board and the government to clear their stand after hearing a plea today.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a batch of petitions challenging the CBSE's decision to re-conduct Mathematics and the Economics examination for Class 10 and 12 respectively. The NHRC has observed that such instances would "adversely affect the credibility of the institutions in which the students have absolute faith". "The HRD ministry is also expected to inform the Commission about the steps taken regarding counselling of the aggrieved students and to make the process of conducting board examinations trustworthy and foolproof to avoid recurrence of such painful incidents in future," the rights panel said in a statement.
National Human Rights Commission issues notice to HRD Ministry, secretary and chairman of CBSE and Delhi police commissioner over the paper leak.
The HRD Ministry has advised students and parents not to rely on “hoax leaked papers” circulated on social media and to report to the CBSE if they find any.
“After the arrest of some miscreants and suspension of a CBSE official, all efforts are being made to ensure smooth conduct of CBSE exam Monday. Students and parents are advised not to rely on rumours. In the past, a number of hoax leaked papers have been floated. Inform CBSE helpline,” School Education Secretary Anil Swarup said.
New leak-proof system delays exams at few centres
The CBSE exam started late at few centres in the national capital Monday as many of them expressed inability to follow the new system of printing encrypted question papers, e-mailed to them, at the school itself. The board officials, however, assured that the students would be given extra time to ensure the delay doesn’t cause them any loss.
“We received (encrypted) question papers at 10 AM from the bank as CBSE officials gave it late. Papers were distributed at 10.45 AM instead of 10.15 AM,” the principal of an East Delhi school said on condition of anonymity. Another school in west Delhi started the board exam late as they received the paper at 10.30 am from bank.
