WEST BROMWICH, England (AP) - West Bromwich Albion, marooned at the foot of the Premier League and heading for relegation, parted company with manager Alan Pardew and his assistant John Carver on Monday.
West Brom has “agreed to mutually part company today following discussions between both parties”, the club said in a statement.
“The club would like to thank Alan and John for their efforts and wish them well in their future endeavors. The club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
West Brom lost 2-1 at home to Burnley on Saturday and, 10 points from safety with six Premier League games left this season, looks destined for relegation.
When Pardew succeeded Tony Pulis in November, the club was two points above the drop zone. Pardew won only one of his 18 league games at the helm.
First-team coach Darren Moore has taken temporary charge, with West Brom facing Swansea on Saturday.
The 56-year-old Pardew left the club following a run of eight consecutive league defeats.
It was his first managerial job since being sacked by Crystal Palace in December 2016.
Pardew also previously managed Newcastle United, West Ham United, Southampton, Reading and Charlton Athletic.
His West Brom departure came six weeks after the club sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman, and four members of the squad were alleged to have stolen a taxi during a training camp in Barcelona.
Gareth Barry, Jonny Evans, Jake Livermore and Boaz Myhill were questioned by police but not arrested.
