Two panchayat offices in district declared paperless

Mulanthuruthy panchayat has been recognised as the first panchayat that fully utilised the development and maintenance fund allotted for the financial year 2017-18 by March 23 without any project spillover.

The other local bodies in Ernakulam district that have done well in terms of Plan fund spending until March 31 include the municipalities of Aluva, Paravur and Kothamangalam, which had achieved total spending as well as others such as Kalamassery, Eloor, Koothattukulam, Angamaly, Thripunithura and Muvattupuzha.

Information posted on the Kerala Local Self Government Department website said that as on March 31, the average Plan fund spending stood at a little more than 88% by grama panchayats in the State; 86% by block panchayats; about 80% by municipalities; 73% by city corporations and nearly 68% by district panchayats.

Paperless offices

Meanwhile, the offices of the Panchayat Deputy Director and Assistant Director in the district have been declared paperless, electronic offices. Work on the induction of software for file tracking and processing was inaugurated by District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla.

A total of 36 panchayat offices, offices of Panchayat Deputy Director and Assistant Director and six performance audit unit offices have been declared as complying with good governance standards by the District Collector.

He also distributed certificates to this effect, said information on the LSG website.

The steps are part of efforts to ultimately turn all the grama panchayat offices in the district along with all other related offices into offices complying with the governance standards.

The panchayats that have received the good governance recognition include Amballoor, Edakkattuvayal, Kumbalanghy, Kadamakkudy, Maneed, Mulanthuruthy, Mulavukadu, Chennamangalam, Ezhikkara, Kuzhippilly, Nayarambalam, Pothanikkad, Varappetty, Choornikkara, Kizhakkambalam, Thiruvaniyoor, Valakam, Avoli, Elanji, Kalloorkkad, Pampakkuda, and Ramamangalam.
