Water-logging causes traffic jam

Sudden showers and hailstorm brought relief from the summer heat on Sunday, but also inconvenienced commuters by causing water-logging in many parts of the city.

India Meteorological Department had warned of thunderstorm activity on Sunday afternoon. Scattered rainfall with gusty winds brought trees and poles down at some places and caused water-logging in other areas. Hayathnagar recorded 45 mm rainfall, the maximum for any area in the State on Sunday.

Heavy water-logging was cleared from Rail Nilayam and Uppal area, while GHMC’s response teams also removed trees. Barring the northern districts of Telangana, rainfall was recorded in all districts of the State. Weather experts have forecast the present conditions to last on Monday.
